Greeting Gloves

Bohyun Kim

Since the Covid-19 pandemic occurred, the opportunities for people to meet in person has decreased. Recently, I experienced that a fist bump with someone I felt awkward has made me feel closer to him.  An interactive wearable project, ‘Greeting Gloves’ was inspired by this experience. It is a wearable that expresses the mood of the neopixel LEDs colors in the glove based on the area where the glove is touched, as when there are hand greeting interactions such as shaking hands, fist bump, etc. The performance of the Greeting Gloves reminds us of the intimacy of hand to hand greetings, which has been difficult to experience recently. It also visually shows the joy of interaction.
