OMEGA

Hyunwoo Park

With the recent development of automobile self-driving technology, there are many interior concepts in which the steering wheel of automobiles does not exist. I thought the disappearance of the steering wheel was not enough from a driver’s point of view, and I designed an “Omega” steering wheel that can be transformed into two modes, focusing on user services related to “steering wheel” and “autonomous driving service.” The UX-point “Omega” steering wheel is equipped with various functions that are important while driving in conjunction with personal mobile devices, not dashboards, and the interface can customize functions, providing better service to users. When autonomous driving is executed, the steering wheel deforms and expands the user’s personal space. It also reduces the risk factors that occur in unexpected situations and visually recognizes the presence of steering wheels, providing psychological stability to users who are not familiar with autonomous driving.
